Fire detection and alarm systems for explosive environments require a design in accordance to current regulations and an analysis of all possibilities of developing an explosive atmosphere.
Smoke detectors for explosive environment are often under construction with intrinsical protection “i” (requires installation of a barrier of Zenner type) and flame detectors, smoke detectors of infrared barrier type, fire buttons and signal sirens are under construction with flameproof protection “d”.
The fire control panel of such a system will be installed outside the potentially explosive area.
